Bramble - an update

It would seem it was not meant to be that Bramble the cat would come to live with us. Our house is too close to a main road for this particular cat sanctuary to be happy with. From the time I picked her up to take her to the vet to see if she was micro-chipped, worrying that I was being an interfering busy body, I fell in love with her.

Why didn't I trust my instincts then? Why did I listen to the vet who seemed to think she had a home. Why didn't I bring her home when she was obviously pregnant? Why didn't I visit the house she had started to frequent just a few hours earlier, in order to get to her before the animal sanctuary did? Why did it have to be the sanctuary with the strictest rehoming policy?

I can only assume the universe has other plans for me, but I will miss Bramble. Sophie still asks where she is when we walk past the spot where she used to come out to be fed. Sophie loves cats, we have to stop and fuss every cat we see, crossing roads to see them! Bramble would have had a lovely life with us, I know it. I just hope she goes to a loving family, as that is what she deserves.

  1. Oh how sad. :( I hope Bramble finds a happy home, and that you come to terms with your loss.

  2. Aw, that's so sad. It's hard that you weren't allowed to have that little cat, I know the animal shelters need to find the right homes, but I think they go too far. We lost more cats living on a quiet lane when I was little, than when we moved to a busy 'A' road. I suppose the main thing is that Bramble is in a safe place now and hopefully she will find a good home soon and that's thanks to your loving care. xxx

  4. How sad that Bramble didn't get to stay with you.
But I wonder what life has waiting for you that you couldn't take Bramble in right now?
I hope you all come to terms with losing a little friend soon.

  5. :-( sorry bramble couldn't stay with you. We have a cat protection cat at our house but by gum it was a pain to get one. You try to do the right thing and offer a lovely home to a homeless cat but there are so many rules to leap through first. We nearly weren't allowed to have him as we live near a road on a corner (a small village road) until I pointed out the huge field next to the house - has skibby ever crossed the road in all his years living here - nope. Who doesn't live near a road nowadays??? ggrrr Sorry rant over :-)

Pull up a chair, have a cuppa and some cake, and if you feel like it, leave a comment.
