A sight for sore eyes

Alec picked up this book (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) yesterday at WHSmiths.  He has barely put it down since then!  We had to steer him around town as he was reading it as we returned to the car.  He has been sat on the sofa for hours last night and today reading, and he is nearly finished.

He really struggled to learn to read, and it really has only been the last couple of years when it has started to click.  It really warms my heart to see him reading more than any of his siblings now.  And it gives me the confidence to not push Ethan with his reading, as it will come when he is interested enough in it.

I think we may have to get a few more of this series of books for Alec though!!

  1. My two boys love the Wimpy Kid series of books and say they are very funny. I agree, it's really good to see them really getting into a book. Other books that my two boys like are the Charlie Small range of books and the Jiggy McCue ones (not sure if I've spelt that right).

  2. It is great to see our boys reading, isn't it? Kenneth has only started to read fiction - he is severely dyslexic, so it is a big thing for him. I laughed at your description of steering him round the shops! i was once so lost in a secret seven story that I read all the way through buying new shoes for school. My mother talked about that for years. :) xxx

Pull up a chair, have a cuppa and some cake, and if you feel like it, leave a comment.
